AMD is getting closer and closer to the launch of its next-gen Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 series CPUs and new X670E and X670 motherboards, with some X670E motherboards already in reviewers' hands.

GIGABYTE's upcoming X670E AORUS MASTER motherboard, with overclocker SkatterBencher receiving the new X670E motherboard in the mail. The X670E AORUS MASTER motherboard is the second-best X670E motherboard, rocking 16+2+2 phase power design, and so much more.

The new AM5 socket motherboard will also have 4 x DDR5 DIMMs, support for PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics cards, 4 x M.2 SSD slots which are split into: 2 x PCIe 5.0 x4 and 2 x PCIe 5.0 x4 which are also all with a screwless design. GIGABYTE is also providing a quick release system for its PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, too.

AMD has met with its board partners for its "Meet The Experts" event, where we now have some more details on their respective flagship X670E and X670 motherboards, ready to rock on with Zen 4.

Overall, it appears that no board partner talked about the maximum DDR5 memory speed that their motherboard would support, but I'm sure that will be confirmed soon. Another thing to note is that easy M.2 SSD installation will be on most of the higher-end boards, and doesn't seem to be exclusive to any of the companies. The future is super-fast M.2 SSDs after all.

ASUS has detailed its two new X670E motherboards during AMD's recent "Meet The Experts" event, where we now have some more details on the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme and ROG Crosshair X670E HERO motherboards, ready to rock on with Zen 4.

ASUS showed off its flagship ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme and ROG Crosshair X670E HERO motherboards, where the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme is an absolute behemoth, that also looks delicious. It rocks super-enthusiast-grade 10GbE networking, USB4 connectivity, RGB lighting, and so much more.

ASUS drops 10GbE and a bunch of weight and size with the ROG Crosshair X670E HERO, it's a smaller motherboard, but still has enthusiast-grade 2.5GbE networking, USB4 connectivity, and more. Both boards of course have PCIe 5.0-ready M.2 SSD slots, and 2 x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots ready for next-gen graphics cards, or RAID cards for some monster storage setups.

MSI is preparing quite the monster motherboard with its upcoming ultra-premium MEG X670E GODLIKE motherboard, where we now have a PCB design that's been leaked and get to ogle at.

Wccftech posted up the PCB design of the MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE motherboard, with its gigantic E-ATX form factor measuring in at a huge 305 x 288mm. MSI will be using AMD's powerful new X670E chipset, which will give PCIe 5.0 abilities to next-gen graphics cards and M.2 NVMe SSDs.

For the geeks: we have 24-pin ATX power, dual 8-pin and dual 6-pin power connectors that one of them being dedicated to USB Power Delivery of up to 60W. MSI is using a monster 24+2+1 phase VRM and 105A Power Stage design. If we compare this against MSI's current MEG X570 GODLIKE, which has just 14 phases for the CPU... the new X670E GODLIKE is a crazy upgrade.

MSI detailed one of the user-friendly functions of its next-gen AMD X670 + B650-based motherboards during its recent MSI Insider Livestream.

We are to expect MSI to use screwless + toolless M.2 SSD installation on its new X670 + B650 motherboards, something that MSI is calling "Screwless M.2 Shield Frozr" that lets users install an M.2 SSD under the Shield Frozr M.2 heat sink... all without any screws or tools required.

MSI's upcoming MEG + MPG family of X670 and B650 motherboards will have the new "Screwless M.2 Shield Frozr" feature, including the MEG X670E GODLIKE, MEG X670E ACE, the MPG X670E Carbon Wi-Fi, and many others. For the motherboards without the "Screwless M.2 Shield Frozr" feature, you'll have EZ M.2 clips that also allow for simple installation, where you can slide the M.2 SSD under the non-Shield Frozr M.2 heat sink.

MSI is pushing out fresh new BIOS updates to its Z690, H670, and B660-based motherboards that support Intel's upcoming 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" CPUs.

The current 600-series motherboards from MSI will need a BIOS update, and not all of them have a new BIOS for you to prepare yourself for Intel's upcoming 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" CPUs. There's a larger list below, and their respective BIOS versions that are now available.

We should expect MSI to push out BIOS updates for its full fleet of 600-series motherboards, as we lead into the launch of the new 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" CPUs later this year. MSI will of course have its own next-gen 700-series motherboards led by the new flagship Z790 chipset, which will arrive later this year.

AMD is splitting up its chipsets like usual for its upcoming 600-series chipsets, with ASRock's upcoming AMD 600-series motherboard list being leaked... teasing a B650E chipset is coming.

The new X670E chipset from AMD is an "Extreme" version of the X670, both of which will support next-gen PCIe 5.0 SSDs and PCIe 5.0 GPUs... but the X670 Extreme (or X670E) will have "PCIe 5.0 everywhere" which means both PCIe 5.0 SSD + GPU at the same time. The regular non-E variant in the X670 will have PCIe 5.0-ready SSDs, but you'll need to go "Extreme" if you want both.

This means that the B650E chipset should see higher motherboard prices in the mid-range, but you'll get Zen 4 CPU support, DDR5 memory, and then PCIe 5.0 support for both your GPU and SSD of the future. Motherboard makers will also use higher-end PCBs packing improved signaling to comply with the strict Gen5 protocol specs.

Intel will be launching its new 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" CPUs later this year, led by the flagship Core i9-13900K, which will all work in existing 600-series motherboards. But... there are new 700-series motherboards we've been hearing about since June 2021 with rumors from over a year ago, and now there are some fresh leaks.

In a fresh new video, Tom @ Moore's Law is Dead says the new Intel 700-series chipset would be led by the flagship Z790 chipset, which would feature support for super-fast PCIe 5.0 SSDs. This would bring Intel to the same level as AMD with enthusiast-class consumer chipsets, as the upcoming AMD X670E chipset and its X670E-powered motherboards will support both PCIe 5.0 SSDs and a PCIe 5.0 GPU.

But just like AMD and its AM5-based motherboards, some of the new Intel Z790-based motherboards won't have PCIe 5.0 SSD support. You'll still have PCIe 5.0 x16 on some of those boards, but it'll only work with a PCIe 5.0-ready GPU. Speaking of which, AMD's next-gen RDNA 3-based Navi 31-powered Radeon RX 7970 XT (or whatever it ends up getting named) will reportedly be on the new PCIe 5.0 x16 standard.

NZXT has just unveiled two new motherboards based on the Intel Z690 chipset, with the introduction of the N7 Z690 and N5 Z690 motherboards.

The new NZXT N5 and N7 series motherboards are ready to rock and roll with Intel's new 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake" CPUs. NZXT is going with a white and black theme with their new N5 and N7 series motherboards, with the higher-end N7 Z690 motherboard featuring a white metal color across most of the board.

NZXT drops the metal cover on the N5 Z690, as well as its overclocking ability, with the company saying that it's a "slimmed-down design with an excellent cost versus performance ratio in mind". On the higher-end N7 there's "additional overclocking headroom due to more VRM phases (12 v 8 on the N5)" as well as a "2oz copper printed circuit board for better thermal conduction".

MSI has leaked out an interesting new dual-chipset X670 motherboard, which is ready for the next-gen AMD AM5 socket (LGA1718) and upcoming family of Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 series CPUs.

But the new dual-chipset motherboard was teased during the recent MSI Insider live stream, the company teased an AMD X670 chipset design that was not only passively cooled but rocked a dual-chipset design. AMD's next-gen AM5 platform will support CPUs of up to 170W PPT (socket power).

As for the AMD X670E and X670 chipsets, their dual-chipset design will have up to 24 PCIe Gen5 lanes -- which can be used for PCIe 5.0-based GPUs and SSDs. AMD's upcoming X670 chipsets can be passively cooled, and don't require cooling -- allowing for a more simple design of X670-based motherboards -- which is good for consumers and gamers alike.
